"Claw your way to your demise"

Films: Clawed (2017)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Forest

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Evil

Summary: You might THINK this is another of those Sasquatch movies, but you're wrong. Very wrong. It's not exactly a high-budget masterpiece, in fact a lot of things here reek of amateur hour, but the monster is not one to be missed. Or encountered, really, if you value your life.

History: In the woods of Bear Claw Mountain, there is a legend that strikes fear into all who hear it. The place is haunted by a strange black goo that is in fact the true form of the Shadow of Death, a monstrous hairy beast that kills everything that even tiptoes into the forest every fifty years. Naturally, a search for the being that led a massacre there is going to go sideways for everyone involved.

Notable Kills: The very first person we see die at its hands looks utterly MANGLED. The following victims don't fare much better, one getting outright sexually assaulted and another getting his spine ripped out.

Final Fate: The survivors throw pretty much everything they got at the monster when they get the chance, but it only slows it down as it mows them down. However, an axe to the head manages to put the beast back in the ground. Much later down the line, it is revealed that the goo has infected a podcaster named Emma. The Shadow of Death just might be expanding in the face of defeat...

Powers/Abilities: The Shadow of Death travels in the form of black goo. It can appear in its true form or a strong arm of smoke. Anyone who comes into contact with the goo faces mutilation or even slow corruption. A fully corrupted person runs the risk of becoming another monster. Also, next to nothing can kill it.

Weakness: A strong enough blow to it will force it back into the ground as goo.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-This film isn't going to win any effects awards anytime soon, but for what it's worth, this is by far one of the least desirable monsters to encounter in the woods. Even its form as a noxious black puddle of sludge is enough to tear flesh off of bone. And its true form is as feral and demonic as you might expect. You don't see it clearly that often, but one can imagine the disorientation that the terror causes when it shows up.

Trivia: -This film’s original title was "Sludge".

-The monster was played by a guy that IMDB simply identifies as Schroeder. He's been in other low-budget films, but this was his most recent, as of this writing.
